What is Lesfic ?

Lesfic is short for Lesbian Fiction, but more specifically it is the electronic version of Lesbian Fiction Stories. The term Fanfic refers to fiction based on visual media programs (Xena Warrior Princess, Bad Girls, Star Trek, Buffy etc).

Where to buy Lesfic

Electronic copies of Lesfic can be purchased from most of the GLBTI Publishing Houses and online bookshops.

All sellers of electronic books will have some type of copyright clause. Here is an example of this clause: 'E-Books are not transferable. They cannot be sold, shared or given away as it is an infringement on the copyright of this work' (BSB). Essentially, if you purchase an electronic book you cannot distribute it to anyone else. You can transfer it to your own devices, but not to those owned by other people.

Free Lesfic Sites

There are many web sites dedicated to providing readers with free lesfic. Most consist of authors, who post their (in progress) stories to the internet for the benefit of interested readers.

It is important to realize that free eBooks are unedited and may contain grammatical errors and plot discrepancies. The author is already aware of this and emailing them with your 'proof-reading' discoveries is futile.Time spent going over old work, prevents authors from writing new stories. Authors do enjoy getting feedback from readers though.

These are the early works of many published and unpublished authors. Many authors remove their stories when they are 'picked up' for publishing. Others may decide that the published story has been changed to such a degree that it bares little resemblance to the 'free' copy. Remember that at the time of writing and sharing these free stories, all authors were unpublished.

It should also be noted that many of these 'free' sites are no longer updated regularly. This doesn't mean that the stories are 'crap', it just means they have been around for a while. Infact, most of the free stories are well structured with well developed characters and plots.

Here are a number of the lesfic and fanfic web sites I use.

PDA Fiction -Xena Fan Fiction, Uber and Original Fiction for PDA's. 1000's of eBooks, 100's of Authors, packaged into complete ebooks, various file formats.

The Athenaeum - Author Index Page is the best place to start. Some Stories are available in numerous file Parts. To compile Parts into One eBook it is recommended that you create a MS Word Document and the Copy and Paste Function.

ROAB - The Royal Academy of Bards. 'The Royal Academy of Bards dedicates itself to the presentation of all genres of Xena: Warrior Princess fan fiction, both alternative and general.'

BBB - Butches, Babes and Bards

The Sandbox 101 - 'Here you will find a group of strong willed sisters that joined together in a bond that has survived many trials and tribulations. We are friends that have become sisters united to write.'

Ausxip 'The Bard's Corner contains some of the best Xenaverse stories related to Xena Warrior Princess.'

A Room of Her Own ' This site was created to house fiction, poetry, essays written by lesbians for lesbians to enjoy. This sub-site is what's known as a graveyard site. It is no longer updated or maintained.'

The Courtroom 'The Courtroom is a site for alternative fiction and poetry. The site's been in existence, in one shape or form, since early 1999.'

Sapphic Voices 'Internet forum dedicated to Lesbian literary expression in the form of their Stories and Poetry.'

Read These Lips 'Read These Lips is about collating new lesbian short writings into handy, single volume compilations, and providing them free to readers.'

E-Scribblers 'Here at E-Scribblers.com we've got fiction. Get it? E for "electronic" and Scribblers for well, "scribbling" also known as writing.'

Rymellan Stories The stories at this site are about two lesbians who live in an alternate society. They're available for reading online and as PDF files (for those who'd prefer to download them).
